Asset management ensures that the appropriate infrastructure and other physical assets are planned, acquired, operated, maintained, renewed, upgraded and disposed in a way that supports affordable and sustainable services for the community now and into the future whilst balancing levels of service, risk and whole-of-lifecycle asset costs.
Purpose of Policy
The purpose of Asset Management Policy is to set Council’s asset management direction and decision-making expectation by:
defining Council's guiding principles for sustainable life cycle asset management,
supporting delivery of the Hindmarsh Shire Council Plan 2025-2029, Community Vision to 2040, Asset Plan 2025-2035 and Long-Term Financial Plan,
guiding Councillors and staff in complying with Asset Plan and integrated strategic planning requirements of the Local Government Act 2020, and
strengthening transparent, evidence-based decisions about service levels, asset risk, renewal priorities, new and upgraded assets, and affordability.
Proposed amendments to Policy
The draft Asset Management Policy has been updated to align with Council's current integrated planning framework, including the Council Plan 2025-2029, Community Vision to 2040, Asset Plan 2025-2035 and Long-Term Financial Plan.
